At Dwell City Kids, our ministry extends beyond just childcare. From our engaging Sunday mornings to special events and everything in between, all we do aims to point kids to Jesus!

ours kids ministry serves nursery-5th grade on sunday mornings

What to expect

  • Upon arrival at the lobby, you will find a check-in table for children, staffed by friendly volunteers who will help you securely register your child. Our secure check-in and check-out procedures ensure we always know where each child is located.

  • Children from the nursery up to three years old can be dropped off before the service begins.

  • Pre-K through fifth graders will stay with their parents during the musical portion of the service and will then be dismissed to our children’s volunteers. These volunteers will escort the children to their appropriate classrooms, where they will remain until a parent picks them up after the service.

  • During their time in class, children will enjoy an active and engaging learning experience focused on the Bible, along with games, crafts, and other fun activities.

  • Additional security measures protect the children’s area of the church. Only parents are allowed into the kids’ area to pick up their child.

  • Safety is our top priority! All activities are supervised by adult leaders who have undergone background checks, submitted applications, provided references, and completed training.

  • Children have dedicated restrooms.

  • We aim to disciple children to live faithfully in God’s story and find their ultimate joy in living for Jesus. We focus on ten foundational truths to root our discipleship time. We use gospel-centered curriculum on Sunday mornings to structure our time together.   • When your kids are at Dwell City, we desire to provide a safe environment for them to learn about Jesus. Our safety measures include thorough background checks for anyone working with children under the age of 18, a rigorous onboarding process, dedicated child safety training, and physical access protections. We are partnering with the Evangelical Council for Abuse Prevention to ensure the highest standards of safety for our children and families. ECAP link

  • We are always looking for adults to serve in kids ministry! If you’re interested in serving and discipling our kids, click here to fill out the form for the volunteer opportunity you are looking for. To volunteer to serve our kids, you can expect to undergo a background check, complete an application, and complete required child safety training.

    Family dedication

    Family Dedication is a public commitment by both parents and Dwell City Church. Parents dedicate themselves to the task of gospel-centered parenting and Dwell City Church commits to coming alongside them as they make disciples at home. Parents attend a class prior to the Family Dedication.

    Parenting Foundations

    Parenting Foundations is a seminar designed for parents that provides biblical guidance on the essential aspects of parenting. This seminar aims to support families as they embark on a new season of growth in their lives. At the conclusion of the class, each family will receive a special gift.

    Kindergarten Blessing

    Kindergarten Blessing marks the moment a child begins kindergarten and starts their formal education. We celebrate this milestone with a church-wide prayer time, a special blessing, and a Bible presentation for each child.

  • Baptism

    Baptism is a celebration of a child’s personal belief in the gospel, publicly proclaiming their confession that Jesus Christ is Lord. Each child baptized at Dwell City will have completed our Baptism Class alongside a parent/guardian.

    Preparing for Adolescence acknowledges the beginning of your child’s growth from a kid to an adult, calling them into deeper involvement and deeper discipleship in the church. Parents and their child are invited to attend a class that will provide helpful resources to help them navigate the changes that will come as the child matures. After the class, we encourage parents to plan a private weekend trip for the parent and child to work through some of the resources we provide and to have fun together!

    Right of Passage

    Right of Passage recognizes students as they enter the final stages of their discipleship at home. Parents and their rising 9th or 10th grader are tasked with attending a gender-specific class which covers biblical manhood or biblical womanhood. The class culminates in a formal dinner together.

    Senior Commissioning

    Senior Commissioning is a significant event in the journey of family discipleship, marking the transition of students from childhood into adulthood. This milestone celebrates their growth, honors their parents, and commissions graduates as they move on to the next phase of their lives. At the beginning of their senior year, seniors and their parents are invited to a breakfast where they will receive encouragement for the year ahead. The commissioning service takes place in May or June.
