An Answer to Identity: Unpacking the Genesis Blueprint

This presentation explores the fundamental questions, "Who are you and why are you here?". These inquiries, commonly experienced by teenagers or those in mid-life, arise from sin and rebellion against God, as Adam and Eve in their sinless state knew their identity. The core message of the presentation is to live in the light of your identity.

This identity is understood through three key aspects:

Agent of Transformation: God takes delight in bringing about transformation, intentionally creating the earth "without form and void" so that He could bring order out of chaos. This process, reflecting God's ordered nature, occurs through the Father acting through the Son by the Spirit. God evaluates each step of this transformation as "good," emphasizing that goodness doesn't require completion.

Agent of Reflection: Humans are created in God's image and likeness, designed to represent Him and exercise dominion over creation. While sin has corrupted this reflection, leading to confusion about identity, God's plan of redemption allows for an even greater reflection of His character. This includes demonstrating His mercy, grace, forgiveness, and patience, aspects not possible for creatures without the experience of a fall and subsequent redemption.

Agent of Community: God is inherently "other-oriented" as a Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit), and humans, created in this "Divine us," are purposed to reflect this nature by engaging in communion with God and one another. Starting creation with a single pair (Adam and Eve) promotes a common bond and mutual dependency, fostering collective good and an other-oriented outlook among people.

Therefore, our purpose is to live out this identity by being transformed by God's Spirit, reflecting His heart and character to the world, and gathering together in community.
